Day 2: Least Favorite Book

Lord of the Flies

Choosing my least favorite book proved to be a little challenging because when I do not like a book I usually just quit reading. So I thought back to my high school days and all the "classics" we were forced to read. Many of these books I found to be not enjoyable. Chief among these books was Lord of the Flies. I read the book my sophomore year and it was just horrible. It shows the worse side of humanity with absolutely no redeeming qualities. There is no hope in the book, just cruelty. Call me crazy but I read books for entertainment; and while showing the dark-side of humanity may have its place in literature this book went a little to far for my taste.

How About You?
What book could you have gone without reading?

  1. The best I could do is books I haven't finished yet, even tho it's been years... Pride and Prejudice and Lord of the Rings comes to mind, sadly. Loved Trainspotting, but Porno is definitely debatable... I don't blame Ewan's hesitation in making the movie. Oh! The Dark Knight novelization, really, really, sucked and I did not finish that either, but not because it was slow... because it was bad.

  2. I tried but I couldn't read the Hobbit. Bored to sleep every attempt.

  3. I have several least favorite books. I think I started The Brother's Karamazof (sp?) at least ten times and never made it through it in its entirety. I never liked the Hobit but loved the trilogy Lord of the Rings.

  4. I find it weird that people do not like the Hobbit because I liked that one the most. The trilogy just goes on and on and on it seems.
